The FPAHK’s Women’s Club project celebrated its 30th Anniversary with a spectacular variety show and a joint inauguration of the newly elected Executive Committees of its six women’s clubs on 27 August 2008 at the Concert Hall of the Hong Kong City Hall.
The event was graced by Ms Sophia Kao Ching-Chi, JP, Chairperson of the Women’s Commission. She commended the pioneering work of the Women’s Club in empowering women to enhance family well being and serve the community in the past 30 years.
Tributes were paid to veteran FPA Ambassadors for their many years of dedicated service in promoting sexual and reproductive health at the grassroots.
The evening’s performances included brass band music, Chinese opera, Tai-chi Kung-fu demonstration, knitwear fashion show, folk dance, social dance, and a humorous play written and performed by the Women’s Club Community Drama Troupe. The variety show was applauded by an enthusiastic audience of 1,099, most of whom were members of the women’s clubs, friends from other women’s groups and local community organizations.
