The Federation of Family Planning Associations Malaysia officially changed its name to The Federation of Reproductive Health Associations, Malaysia (FRHAM) (in Bahasa Malaysia, Persekutuan Persatuan-Persatuan Kesihatan Reproduktif Malaysia), effective January 28, 2009. The Organisation’s name was changed to reflect the fact that our area of concern is not limited to family planning but to the promotion of and advocacy for the sexual reproductive health services and rights of all whom we serve for the advancement of family development.
Other than the name, changes to certain articles in its Constitution were also approved by the Registrar of Societies which included the dissolution of the Women Development Committee (in recognition of the fact that gender issues have been mainstreamed) to be replaced by a Youth Committee and the inclusion of youth representation into FRHAM’s governing bodies.
As the Federation of Reproductive Health Associations, Malaysia, its existing team of volunteer and staff will continue to serve with the same dedication to meet the needs of Malaysians.
