Vice President launch HIV/AIDS radio program at FBC

FIJI

22/05/2009

Fiji’s Vice President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau launched a radio drama on HIV/AIDS at the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation Limited’s Studio Fiji this morning.

Ratu Epeli says the new radio show titled “Walking With Mele” is another awareness campaign that can help prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.

Also a well known HIV/AIDS advocate in the Pacific, Ratu Epeli stressed the need to talk about this issue in all public forums.

"HIV/AIDS is about talking and you all know that most of you are involved in this work," said Ratu Epeli.

"Its talking to each other, listening that’s what its about. Sometimes for us and you’ve seen it here and elsewhere in the Pacific and in the world, sometimes the applause is louder than the action because the action is only done by some people, you included, while the others who are supposed to be doing the action as well only go up to a certain stage and they sit back to see what the result is going to be," he said.

FBCL broadcast “Walking With Mele” in both the Fijian and English languages and will air it on all 6 of its radio stations.
