Hong Kong

7/8/2008

FPAHK

The Family Planning Association of Hong Kong (FPAHK) launched the Youth Sexuality and Love Campaign jointly with key youth services and welfare organizations on 13 February 2008, the eve of St. Valentine’s Day. The Campaign aims to help young people build healthy relationships in love with informed choices and responsible behavior.

Held at the Olympian City II shopping mall, the Launching Ceremony was officiated by Mrs Lina Lo, Vice-Chairman of the Association, Mr Lee Kam Hung, Convenor of the Campaign Working Group, Dr Susan Fan, Executive Director, and representatives from partner organizations, namely the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, Boys’ and Girls’ Club Association of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Family Welfare Society, Caritas Play Safe Health Life Project, AIDS Concern, Tung Wah Group Hospitals CEASE Crisis Centre, China YMCA of Hong Kong as well as film director Mr Yung Tse Kwong.

Metro Radio, a popular radio channel among young people in Hong Kong, was commissioned to promote the Campaign Opening in its radio programs. It also lined up young artistes to perform at the Launch, and outstanding students and youth representatives were invited to express their views in support of the Campaign. The Campaign Opening attracted a large audience and had good coverage in 19 printed and broadcast media reports on St. Valentine’s Day.

A series of Campaign programs will be held in the following months, including the “10 Everlasting Love Songs Election” on the Web, a Sexuality Workshop for Parents and Pre-teen Children in May, and a series of youth lectures on Dating and Love from October to December 2008.
