IPPF Governing Council in 2008 instituted the IPPF Awards to honor individuals of Member Associations and individuals/organizations that are outside of the Federation but who has contributed significantly to the promotion, realization and defense of sexual and reproductive health and rights.

4 Awards are to be given annually beginning with the giving of the awards in 2009. Of the 4 IPPF Awards for 2009, 2 of the recipients of the awards were from the ESEAOR region and the awards were given at the November 2009 Governing Council meeting.

The ESEAOR awardees were Mr Yasuo Kon (picture above)  from Japan Family Planning Association and Ms Melrose Dingal from the Family Planning Organisation of the Philippines.
